Ray Bradbury Praised
The Christmas Clock

Ray Bradbury thought highly enough of this dark but uplifing seasonal story to send the author a personal letter (snail mail; on record) praising it. Direct Quote: "John! Read and Loved Your Clock!" Readers have confessed to feeling emotional while absorbing the story's humor, wonderful atmosphere, and holiday themes. More than one reader says they responded in tears to the underlying treatment of alcoholism, which hurts so many lives. This short novel does all that a meaningful holiday story should, with family oriented themes and brilliantly original sci-fi/fantasy props—especially the river of time, filled with the flotsam and jetsam of our lives, disappointments, and hopes.

Three John T. Cullen novels were picks of the Forbes Book Club: The Generals of October, The Christmas Clock, and Have Blue. The Forbes Book Club is no more, but this was a fun tribute while it lasted.   TOP
