Day 3—Saturday, Nov. 26, 1892
On the third day at the Hotel del Coronado, real estate agent T. J. Fisher testifies she came into the hotel drugstore, where he shared an office with the druggist. Fisher says she wandered about ‘slowly’ and apparently ‘in pain.’ She asked for medicine to ease her pain (described as ‘intense suffering’). Fosdick suggested she consult a doctor, and she brushed this aside, telling him that her brother, a physician, would be arriving any day to care for her—the elusive ‘Dr. Anderson,’ who would never show up nor send word.
Later in the day, Harry West rather vaguely remembered that she asked him to get her an empty pint bottle and a sponge from the hotel drugstore. No reason is known why she wanted these items, but, like so many tiny details, they are significant, and downright chilling, in my theory—as I will explain in the next section, Part IV: Solved!.
